Tonsillitis – A Quick Guide

TONSILLITIS is the inflammation of the tonsils, usually caused by viral or bacterial infection. It commonly affects children but can occur at any age.

 

SYMPTOMS:

Sore throat

Fever

Difficulty swallowing

Swollen tonsils

Bad breath

 

CAUSES:

Viral (most common) or Bacterial infection

 

TREATMENT:

Viral tonsillitis → rest, warm fluids, pain relief

Bacterial → antibiotics

Recurrent or chronic tonsillitis may need tonsillectomy

Frequent episodes

Difficulty swallowing

Breathing issues

Persistent fever

Recurrent throat infections affecting daily life

 

Tonsillitis is common and treatable. Early evaluation helps prevent complications and improves recovery.
